have you ever had to write about something you don’t really like? You have to stay objective; look for more positives than negatives – inform and (if you can) entertain.
Well, this is a hard review to write. I love Age Of The Gods games. Most of them are truly excellent. And this one? Well Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard – I mean, it’s about Odin. That’s the same Odin who is King Of Asgard. Surely this game would be one of, if not the most, powerful of online slot games?
Well it’s not. Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard sucks. And it sucks hard. It sucks big floppy donkey balls.
“Why is that?” I hear you ask. Well let me explain.
Firstly the basics. Age of Gods King Of Asgard is a 6 reel online slot game with 50 win lines. There are only ten different reel symbols – five are low value and 5 are high value so you would think that there would be the opportunity for a lot of wins (what with there being fewer symbols to match). Sadly this didn’t seem to be true when I played it. You can go for a fair number of spins before latching on to a win – and most of those wins are lower value than your Play Stake.
As always, you start by selecting your Play Stake. This is the total amount you are spending per spin. Remember though that this is different to your Line Stake. That is the amount you are playing per line. So if you were playing at £5 per spin on Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard, each line is worth 10p (£5 divided by 50 win lines = 10p per win line).
The aim of the game is to match reel symbols from left to right. The more matching symbols you get then the more you win.
And sadly this is another area where Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard lets itself down. The smallest amount you can win is just 5x your win line stake and the most you can win is 400x your win line stake – and that’s getting 6 of the pink Friaa symbols on a winline. (Friaa is Odins wife btw).
to use our figures above that means that your minimum win is 50p and your maximum win is £40. And that’s for a £5 spin. It’s just poor value.
But it can’t be all bad can it? Well there is a Wild symbol that takes the form of Odins son Loki – the God of Mischief. He substitutes for all symbols to help you get wins. However, these wins don’t carry anything special with them – there are no multiplier wins for achieving anything with a Wild symbol, no Scatter wins for getting 3 or more Lokis in view – nothing. The Wild symbol is criminally underused really.
Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard - Free Spins Round
There is one reel symbol that we haven’t mentioned yet and that’s the one of Odin himself. He’s a full length reel symbol, meaning that he can cover all three positions on a reel. If he does then you’ll trigger the Odins Fury Free Spins round. If he doesn’t fully appear across all three positions then he’ll just act like a Wild symbol.
OK. The number of Free Spins that you get will depend where on the reels Odin appears to trigger them. Each time a respin happens Odin will shift left one reel. Remember that he is a Wild symbol, so that’s a good thing in terms of getting wins. When he gets to Reel 1 that’s the end of the spins.
If Loki (the other Wild symbol) pops up on any of the Reels to Odins left then the Odin symbol will move back one, essentially adding you another spin, which is how this game can claim that it potentially has Infinite Free Spins.
You may well have a chance of a decent win if Odin starts off appearing on Reel 6 as then there’s plenty of opportunity for Loki to turn up, push Odin back and get more Free Spins. However in my experience he usually turns up on Reels 2 or 3. Like, cheers for that.
Anyway, whether you end up with 2 Free Spins or 200 each spin you have comes with a Win Multiplier. After each Free Spin you have in increases by one until you reach the maximum of a 6x multiplier. If you manage to get more than 6 Free Spins, each subsequent spin will also be at a 6x multiplier until the round ends and you return to the base game.

There are also three different progressive jackpots that can be randomly won. These are displayed to the left of the screen and range between a minor, medium and high value jackpot.
The low value Jackpot is called the Instant Jackpot and has to be won before the value of the pot reaches a certain value. In the version I played it was set to pay out before the pot reached £180. The second pot – the Extra Jackpot – works the same way and is set to pay out before it gets to £180 in value.
The final Jackpot is the Ultimate Jackpot and has no limit to the value of it, quite often getting up to the high 6 figures, which is a life changing amount of money.
Even this jackpot isn’t enough to save Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard because most of the Age Of Gods games have these jackpots attached.
So all in all, Age Of The Gods King Of Asgard just seems like a massive disappointment when you bear in mind how good most of the other online slots in this franchise are. Its a shame, but there are many other online slots out there, and I’d suggest that instead of playing with one, you have a go at the Freely Paying (in my experience) Age Of The Gods Fate Sisters instead.
