Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic - General Gameplay
Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic (not to be confused with Rainbow Riches Cluster Magic) is a nice little game. As mentioned above its a 5 reel online slot with 3 reels positions per slot and just 10 winlines. It can be played from as little as 10p per spins up to a hefty £50 per spin unless you are playing the Super Dial version of the game which doubles the stake. I’ll cover of the Super Dial feature further down.
Once you have chosen your preferred play stake simply start spinning. As usual the aim of the game is to match symbols running from Reel 1 through to reel 5 on a win line. Depending on which symbol you are matching and how many of them there are on the win line you will receive a multiplier win – up to 200x your line bet. One nice thing that I haven’t seen in any other Rainbow Riches game is that the paytable will actually tell you how much you can win in cold, hard cash as opposed to giving you a multiplier rate – and if you change your play stake the paytable will change as well.
Another good thing about Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic is that there are two symbols (the Rainbow Riches symbol and the Rainbow Arch symbol) that will pay out if you match just two symbols instead of the usual three. Wins are wins are wins after all.
Along the way there are a few extra reel symbols that can help you.
The Rainbow Riches symbol is not only a win symbol in its own right – paying up to 200x your line bet if you get 5 of them on a winline, butit also acts as a Wild symbol. This substitutes for any other reel symbol apart from the Leprechaun Scatter symbol and the Fairy symbol. This can help you get multiple line wins on a single spin – and that’s always nice!
The Leprechaun Scatter symbol is the one that you want to look out for as this is the one that triggers the Free Spins round. Getting 3 of these on the reels will start that bad boy off – and they don’t have to be on a winline.
Finally there is the Fairy symbol. This one only appears in the Free games round and is a pretty interesting addition to Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic.
If you get a Fairy symbol landing on a reel during the Free Spins round, it will automatically turn all the picture symbols (i.e the high paying symbols) into the same symbol. And this symbol is always the highest paying symbol that is on the reels. What’s extra interesting is that the Rainbow Riches Wild is classed asa picture symbol, so if the Fairy lands and you have one of those on the reels, then all the picture syumbols will turn into Wild symbols – you can imagine the potential for big wins there…
Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic - Free Spins Round
So 3 of the Leprechaun Scatter symbols trigger the Free Spins round. You get 10 Free Spins for landing 3 Leprechaun symbols, 15 for 4 symbols and 20 for 5 Leprechaun symbols – that’s one on each reel.
Sadly the Free Spins cannot be retriggered during the Free Spins round but you do get that Fairy symbol 9explained above) popping in to help build your wins. the Free Spins Round in Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic is pretty simple and clear, so there’s not really much more to say – fewer bells and whistles make for clearer gameplay I guess.
Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic - Using the Super Dial
If you’ve been paying attention (and if not, then why not!) you’ll remember that I mentioned the Super Dial feature at the top of the review. You can find this in the bottom right corner of the playing area and by default it is switched to the Off position.
Switching it on however, changes the dynamics of the game pretty dramatically.
Here it is. The first thing that the Super Dial does is double your play stake. This isn’t actually that much of a problem as the minimum spin size with it activated is just 20p – which I think is more than within most online slot players reach. The second thing that it does changes the way that the game is played quite dramatically.
in the normal game, getting three Laprechaun Scatter symbols will trigger the Free Spins game but if you are playing Rainbow Riches Midnight Magic with the Super Dial activated then getting just 2 of the Leprechaun symbols will open the Super Dial. As you can see there are 6 blue areas and 16 red areas. Clicking on the Super dial will set it spinning. Eventually the needlse will stop. If it lands of a red tile then you win the multiplier for any wins you had in that spin.
But if you land on the blue tiles then these award the corresponding number of Free Spins – so the chance for Free Spins for only getting two Scatter symbols? Yes please!
