Immortal Romance is 5 reel online slot game with 243 win lines and host of features that quite frankly put a lot of other slots to shame.  Its heavily themed on a Twilight/Vampire theme and introduces four characters – Amber, Troy, Michael and Sarah – each of whom has their own backstory which can be read in the Game Info section. Its a nice touch to the game to help you get more involved with the characters. Each character also has their own Free Spins bonus feature in the same way that Thunderstruck 2 does.

You start the game by selecting your stake – you can either to this buy the number of “coins” or the actual amount of credits you have. I always find playing with the “coins” confusing so if you click on the “Coins” or “Credits” button at the bottom left of the game area it will toggle between whichever one you are most comfortable with.

Pressing “Spin” will start the game, and as is usual with online slot games the idea is to match reel symbols running concurrently from Reel One to Reel Five. The type and number of reels that you match will generate you a win of anything from 1/6^th of your wager (three 9’s or three 10’s) up to 200x your wager (5 Scatter symbols).

There is also an immortal romance reel symbol that acts as a Wild symbol. This symbol will substitute for all other symbols apart from the Scatters and help you link up matching reels to generate wins for you.  So far, so online slot. But there is more. Much ,much more.

There is also a random feature called “Wild Desire” that will actively occasionally. When it does it will turn up to 5 reels completely wild – and obviously the more Wild symbols you get, the more you will win. Its nice to have something like this appearing randomly – sometimes you are just on a losing run and getting fed up and something like this feature pops up to give you a win and restore your faith in the game.

The other symbol to look out for is the Scatter Feature. Getting two or more of these anywhere on the reels will give you a win. These Scatter symbols don’t have to be on a win line, and when they spin in they are nicely animated (additionally, if you get 5 of the characters in a win they also unlock a nice little video animation too).

However, if you get three of more Scatters appearing anywhere on the reels, you will start the Free Spins bonus round – and this is where things get interesting. The bonus round is progressive, meaning that the more you play it, the more characters you unlock and the better your Free Spins Bonus.

You start by unlocking Amber. She will give you 10 Free Spins and all the Wins are paid out at a 5x multiplier. I found that her Spins didn’t really win you that much so was looking forward to going into the bonus round again to see what Troy had to offer.

However, if you look at the above screenshot you will see that there is a red block above Amber. And three black ones – thats right, you have to activate the Scatter Free Spins round for Amber 4 times before you can move on to Troys bonus!

Troys bonus will become active after you have played Ambers bonus four times. Each time you play Ambers bonus the bar above the characters will fill up, unlocking the new characters along the way. When you unlock Troys bonus you will have the choice of whether to play Amber or Troys bonus.

If you choose Troys Free Spin Bonus round you will be given 15 Free Spins, and also get what is called the “Bat Bonus”. The reels will spin, and on various occasions a colony of bats will fly over the gates on the game screen and land on one of the reel symbols.

This reel symbol will dissolve to display a Multiplier win value under it. All your winnings on this spin are multiplied by the Multiplier value.

If you break the consecutive win spins then your next free spin starts, and so on until you run out of Free Spins.  In theory (and in practice to be honest) you can win a lot on this bonus round!

Remember that you don’t have to choose this bonus, you can take any of the bonuses that you have unlocked, but it does make sense to open up the latest bonus you have achieved – after all you’ve worked hard for it!
