The Mummy Slot Machine

Its not often that you find an online slot game that genuinely has new features, but I have to say that The Mummy online slot game may have developed an interesting new feature that could become a staple part of the way slots are made in the future – and thats no mean feat – the unlockable bonus part of this slot could well become as commonplace as Free Spins and Wild symbols (both of which are heavily featured in this game too).

You start as you would any online slot game – choose your stake and number of winlines by using the buttons at the bottom of the playing area to determine your overall wager. There are 25 winlines in The Mummy, and you will need every of them to unlock all the bonuses. Spin the reels as normal to generate wins by getting 3 or more matching symbols on the win lines running concurrently from left to right – the more you match, and the type of symbol that you match will determine the amount that you win.

So far, so normal. But its the features that really set this game apart, and the first of them – the Lost City Adventure Bonus – is genuinely innovative.

This feature is triggered randomly as you play. When it starts, a nice little video cut scene from the 1999 movie will play and you will then be taken to a new screen with 6 chests. The six different features unlock in this order;

1. The Scorpion Scatter symbol – choosing this bonus feature means that every time the Scorpion King symbol rolls into the reels it acts as a “Scatter” symbol – meaning that you get a Scatter win if three or more of them roll in even if they arent on a win line.
2. Expanding Mummy – if the Mummy symbol appears on a reel then the symbol will expand to take over all three position on that reel. This makes the entire reel “Wild” – very handy for generating multiple wins!
3. Scarab Attack – if you choose this feature and the Mummy appears on any position on Reel 3 then a swarm of Scarab beetles will come out from behind the reel and turn two more reels Wild; one on Reel 2 and one of Reel 4 meand that you will have a Wild symbol on Reels 2,3 and 4. Again, very handy for generating multiple line wins, and also guaranteeing you a number of four-of-a-kind wins.
4. Collapsing Reels – if you choose this feature then every you spin in a win, the winning reel symbols will disappear. The remaining reels “tumble” downwards filling in the gaps and any spaces left are filled with new symbols from above. If you generate another win, then this will explode too and new symbols replace them. This keeps happening until all the reels are filled an no now win is generated. The best thing about this is that its all done in the same wager so it costs you no more money – its effectively as good as getting free spins!
5. The fifth bonus to unlock is the Mummy Power Feature. If you get a win that utilises a Mummy symbol then depending on how many Mummy symbols were used your win will be multiplied by either 3,6 or 9 times – and remember, then Mummy symbol is a Wild symbol so wins are frequent!.
6. The final unlockable bonus is the Mummy respin. If you spin in a Mummy symbol and it isn’t part of a win then the symbol will stick to the reel until you can use it in a win. In practice this means that you are most likely to generate a number of Mummy Wild symbols on Reels 4 and 5 until you manage to spin three of a kind (or two of a kind and another Wild symbol) – as you can see, this means a LOT of 4 and 5 line wins, and when know what that means!

Now by clicking on the feature you bring it into play when you spin the reels. You can only pick one feature at a time, so the more you play – the more bonuses you unlock and of course, the bonus features that you unlock further down the line will be better than the ones that you will get early in the game.

There are also two more things that you can unlock and these are again given when you finish the randomly awarded Lost City of Adventure bonus. The first of these is the Free Spins symbol.

The Mummy Slot Game

When you start playing The Mummy online slot game you don’t get a free spins symbol. Instead it has to be unlocked. Thats a new one on me, but is a pretty good idea. An even better idea is the way that they have implemented the Free Spins – yet again The Mummy has done something that I don’t think I have ever seen in an online slot.

You start with just 5 free spins, which does seem a little mean – however if you look at the screenshot below you will see that on the left hand side of the reels is an area called “Collected Wilds”. The Mummy Bonus Round

The last bonus symbol to get is the Mummy Hunt symbol. This is another reel symbol that unlocks and then starts to appear on the reels. If you manage to get this far and then spin the Mummy Hunt symbol onto reels 1 and 5 then you will start the Mummy Hunt feature – the most elusive and hardest to get feature on this game!

The idea of this round is to move through the tunnels so that you can find Mummies and kill them. When prompted you choose which direction to take. Keep moving until you find the Mummies and dispatch them in return for a nice financial reward. There are 10 Mummies to find and kill. If you find yourself in a dead end though beware – the Mummies will ambush you and your bonus round will be over.

So in summary, this is not really a game for the novice player.
