Kong – 8^th Wonder of the World is a 5 reel slot playing out over 20 winlines. It looks amazing and the gameplay is smooth, but where this online slot excels is the number of features. A graphic image of King  Kong himself is the Wild Symbol, substituting for all other reel symbols except for the written Kong symbol . You’ll start playing in Big City Mode after the Skull Island Bonus has finished and you will continue to play in Big City Mode until you activate the City Tower Bonus, and after completion of that bonus round you will then return to Jungle Mode. Sounds confusing?  You’ll get the hang of it quickly enough!

Wild Jungle Respins

Whilst playing in Jungle Mode spinning in three or more graphic Kong symbol anywhere across the reel positions will launch the Wild Jungle respin round. The free spins are introduced by the screen shaking and Kong literally leaping out of the screen at you – its quite brilliant to look at – and then the respins begin.

You only get three respins, but this doesn’t matter. Each time you spin in a graphic Kong Wild symbol chains will wrap the symbol icon up, locking the symbol into position on the reel. He will stay there until all the spins are complete, meaning that over the respins the reels fill up with Kong symbols.

All these symbols act as Wild symbols and so help to complete multiple line wins. Sadly these respins cannot be retriggered and when the bonus round has ended all your earnings are totalled up and added to your win bank.

Once you have competed the Wild Jungle Respins you will continue playing in Jungle Mode until you manage to trigger the Skull Island Bonus

Skull Island Bonus

Whist in Jungle mode, if you are lucky enough to spin in three or more written Kong symbols anywhere across the reels (not necessarily in a winning combination) you will start the Skull Island Bonus.

You will be taken via a really nice video cut screen to a map of Skull Island (Skull Island is the home of King Kong in the movie). On the map are a number of  areas, and behind each of them is a different dinosaur. Keep clicking on the map areas until you find three of a kind. You will be awarded a multiplier bonus depending on which type of dinosaur you match. You keep selecting until you match three of a kind and then the round ends, your total bonus is revealed and applied to your win bank.

At the end of the bonus round you will see yet another rendered video cut scene which will transport you to the Big City part of Kong – 8^th Wonder of the World.

Here you will play on but the symbols will change to represent the characters as they are now that they have reached the roaring Twenties New York City. Now that you are in the big city, spinning in three or more of the written Kong symbols will start up the City Tower Bonus round and if you get three or more graphic Kongs you will initiate the King Kong Respins round.

King Kong Respins

If you trigger the King Kong respins then you will activate another video cut scene –  featuring possibly the best video slot graphics I have seen. The whole screen will shake and Kong will actually burst through all the reels and almost out of your screen! Again,  you only get three respins and they cannot be retriggered. However, on each of these respins you will get Kong taking over either two or three of the entire reels – making every position on these reels Wild. Its a variation of the Wild Jungle respins feature that you would trigger when playing Jungle mode.

These enlarged Wild reels can appear on any of the reels and play a continuous video cut scene of Kong crashing around New York whilst chasing and ultimately catching a truck. It really is something to watch.

City Tower Bonus

If you manage to spin three or more written Kong symbols into any position on the reels then you will initiate the City Tower Bonus  and you will be take via a quite long video cut scene showing Kong climbing to the top of the Empire Start Building and being shot at by biplanes.

Once at the top the bonus round will start. Biplanes will attack Kong and you have to use your mouse to hit the planes as they fly towards Kong. A successful hit will trigger a cut scene showing the mayhem and damage that you have caused, after which you will return to the bonus round. Each time you hit a biplane you will be allocated a sum of money as a win. You keep attempting to hit the biplanes by moving your mouse around the screen until the round ends.

Kong Bonus Round

At the end of the round all your win totals are added together to give you a final game win amount that is added to your win bank.

Once you finish the Big City Bonus round another nice video cut scene will return you to the Jungle Mode so that you can continue to play.
