On paper, Silver Bullet looks old. 5 reels and 9 winlines, although not really an issue when playing online slot games these days (there are some really good versions available) but this game just looks tired.

The reel symbols and screen layout look basic and uninspired, and then there is the issue of *that* winline routine…

Normally when you play an online slot game you pretty much instinctively know what to do – choose the number of winlines that you want to play, choose the line bet that you are comfortable playing with and then press Spin to try and get matching symbols running from left to right  on the reels. And this, is in part what happens when you play Silver Bullet.

However, there is one main difference between this slot game and most of the others available these days. Although you can win by getting matching symbols from left to right on the reels, you can also win if the matching symbols appear concurrently anywhere on the win line. This means that you can win if you get a matching symbol of reels 4 and 5 of a win line. Or reels 2,3 and 4. What should be a brilliant additional feature ultimately just becomes terribly confusing, meaning that even though you are winning, you are not sure why – I spent most of my spins flicking between the paytable and the action just see why I had won! Happily, if you cant see why you won then checking the paytable will help because your wins for that particular round are highlighted.

However, this just made me feel like I was a random part of the game, and not immersed in it. If I have to check why I have won, then I’m definitely not part of the game experience.

There are also a couple of reel symbols that also help to make additional wins/make the game even more confusing. The Sheriffs Badge symbol acts as a Wild symbol and substitutes for all other symbols, helping to generate even more wins, and the Pistol Symbol acts as a Scatter Win option. Get at least 2 of these anywhere on the reels and you can win between 2 and 100 times your line bet.

Finally there is the Dollar Ball option. Toggling this button starts and stops the feature. Once activated the game will add a Dollar Ball symbol into each of the reels. If you manage to spin in one of these then you will win 1x your line bet, however if you manage to spin in all 5 (one on each reel) then you will win the Progressive Jackpot. Playing the Dollar Ball game costs more than playing the normal game, but then you do get the chance to win that jackpot.

Untimately Silver Bullet just looks worn out. There is nothing here to immerse you into the game, and you ultimately just don’t feel part of the experience. There are better online slot games out there to play.
